Impact of our Financial Assistance Program From a Gold Star Wife

Our Financial Assistance Program provides support to Gold Star spouses (active duty death) when financial needs arise due to home or automobile repairs, medical or dental needs not covered by insurance etc. Funds are paid directly to the service provider, institution, etc. and not to the spouse. We could not offer this program without the generous support of our many donors. The following is from one of the spouses we were able to help…

“The Financial Program with The Sugar Bear Foundation helped me in a desperate time of my life. It was minimal, but I was deeply concerned about the need for extra funds for an unexpected car repair. I know I need to be ready for any emergencies, but the economy is getting worse than ever, and I depleted my savings for other emergencies. Sometimes life makes us feel alone when we need it the most. I called the Sugar Bear Foundation for help. I was drawing in my own bills, and I needed a hand to pull me out of the water. Thank you so much, Sugar Bear Foundation. My family and I appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”

“I’m Beyond Thankful” - Gold Star Wife and Recent Resume Recipient

Beyond Grateful.png

Our Resume Scholarship is available for both Gold Star spouses and teens to assist them with their educational and employment needs.

The following comes from one of our recent recipients…

“I am beyond thankful to have found The Sugar Bear Foundation. I am a Gold Star wife and have had quite the journey since losing my husband. I have spent the last 12 years raising my children, and gladly focusing just on them, as they were my priority. As my oldest is about to graduate, I wanted to get back out in the work force, but desperately needed help with a resume. The Sugar Bear Foundation was able to set me up with someone, free of charge, to help build my resume. It was such a relief to have help, without a price tag attached to it. The process was incredibly easy and helpful! I am so thankful to have had this opportunity!

Thank you guys so much for what you do for Gold Star Families. We appreciate every little bit!”

Our Chairman and Gold Star wife Jennifer Carazo had the opportunity to share Sugar Bear's story and our work with Tim Beisiegal, the host and founder of the Focused on Forward Podcast. Gold Star Spouses Day - April 5, 2021

In honor of Gold Star Spouses Day, we wanted to once again share the stories of some of the amazing women we have had the opportunity to support and who serve as a shining example of life after loss. All of our programs are designed to assist these families with a new path while providing career, educational, and even financial support when needed. We hope you will consider making a donation, signing up for Sugar Bear's Virtual Memorial Run, sponsoring a scholarship, or even sharing our work by joining our Ambassador Program. We are grateful for any and all help!

Stem Competiton for Girls

This is a wonderful opportunity for girls and we hope some of our Gold Star children will take part.

“The Math and AI Girls Competition aims to encourage young girls to develop an interest in math and AI by taking part in STEM competitions at an early age. This competition also aims to encourage long-term planning of academic and career goals in STEM. The competition is open to middle school female students. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitudes, activities and aspirations in STEM.”
