Sugar Bear's Virtual Memorial Run - Supporting Marines and Gold Star Families

Run, walk, row, or bike 10 miles on July 22, 2025 to honor the memory of LtCol Mario “Sugar Bear” Carazo. Sugar Bear made the ultimate sacrifice on July 22, 2010 when his AH-1W Cobra was shot down while supporting Marines engaged in a firefight in Afghanistan.

The proceeds from this virtual event will be split between the Marine Corps Association Foundation and the Sugar Bear Foundation, which supports Gold Star families and Surviving Spouses.

The first 250 participants to complete the event will receive an exclusive race pin with this year’s image.

We hope you will join us by registering for or sharing Sugar Bear's Virtual Memorial Run with your friends. Support of this event goes directly towards our programs for Gold Star/Surviving Spouses and children, and those of the Marine Corps Association. You can help us honor Sugar Bear's legacy of service by supporting the spouses and children who have given their all. Sugar Bear focused his entire life on being of service and giving back.

For those who take part, please share any pictures on social media and use the #SugarBearMemorialRun. Thank you for helping us celebrate our hero's life in a way that is truly impactful.
